Protect My Drain- A Surgical Drain Carrier
Our patients were carrying their surgical drains around by using pillow cases or their hands. However, when they needed to use their hands, they had to place their surgical drains on the floor.
By doing so, we continued to witness our patients either accidentally pull on their drains (this is painful as they are sutured into place!); Disconnect the tubing to the drain (this is a sterile enclosed system); Or pull the drain out entirely (the fluid still needs to be drained!).
